Beliefs of the Presbyterian Church in America

Belca

Purpose Statement

“Attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ", Ephesians 4:13 (NIV) The purpose of the Bryce Avenue Presbyterian Church (a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America) is to glorify God, adhering to the biblical mandate of gathering and perfecting the saints by  "Taking captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ" II Corinthians 10:5  In the context of historic, reformed presbyterianism, we seek to apply these principles in the ministry of worship, teaching, evangelism, and service to the community of Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Our Vision

Our vision is to honor and glorify Christ through loving and obedient lives as a body of believers which confronts Northern New Mexico with the claims of Christ through word and deed.

Statement of Direction

Under each of the four areas of the church's activities, we have identified a statement of direction: WORSHIP         To honor God with worship that is reverent, joyful, and heartfelt and results in changed lives. Being in the presence of God: o our souls are invigorated in Christ o our minds are renewed in truth o our hearts are moved to respond to God and man. TEACHING         To instruct people to understand and apply the Christian faith in every sphere of life. This implies: o discipling of believers in the application of Word to their lives o demonstrating relevance of Christian thought to all society. EVANGELISM         To proclaim Christ boldly and lovingly in our community and northern New Mexico and to promote and support missions throughout the nation and the world. This implies: o continual intercessory prayer for the expansion of the Kingdom o personal evangelism o regular and substantial financial commitment to missions o encouragement to and recruitment for mission service. SERVICE         To demonstrate Christ's love to the world by: o identifying our responsibilities to our neighbors as defined by Scripture o addressing the needs of our neighbors o impacting society with Biblical principles and lives
